BotW - "Torch Song" by Shady Bard

Wow, Grey's Anatomy came back with vengeance this week.  I really loved the entire episode, even though it brought back some not so fond memories.  It also brought back some amazing music use.  But before we get to that, we've got a bigger than average Best of the Week post.

First, we have a new free download from Val Emmich called "Get On With It" which was heard on Ugly Betty last week.  Just scroll to the bottom to check out the track.

Secondly, and even more importantly, we're launching something new this week called "Your Best of the Week" which could land you 5 free downloads courtesy of TV Show Music.  All you have to do is tell us what you're favorite tracks were in the past week down in the comments.  Name your top 5 tracks and you could get them free.  How's that for having an opinion?  Don't forget that you must include your email address in the form, otherwise we won't be able to contact you, and that wouldn't be good now would it?  The winner will be chosen from random among entries and will be announced on next week's Best of the Week.  Good luck!

  • "Believe" by The Bravery. Annie & Dixon discuss their dad's announcement. >/+ | Download
    • I'm just throwing this one in there because I still love it.
  • "Trouble Is A Friend" by Lenka. Harry tells Annie she can't go to Silver's party. >/+ | Download
    • This is a strange but cool song.  I'm not sure how much I'll like it in a day or two though.
  • "Old Enough" by The Raconteurs. The girls play 'I Never'. >/+ | Download
    • I haven't heard very much from The Raconteurs, but every song I have heard I like and this song is no different.
Brothers And Sisters
  • "As You Are Now" by Suzanne Vega. Justin tells Rebecca that he loves her. >/+ | Download
    • I didn't really realize that Suzanne Vega was even still making music, but apparently she is.  This is a great song from her Beauty and Crime album.
Gossip Girl
  • "No New Tale To Tell" by Love and Rockets. Rufus discovers that Jenny's moved out; Serena & Blair check out the Yale calendar; Nate & Dan mail letters; montage. >/+ | Download
    • My guess is, and I'm going out on a limb here, that this song is saying something about there not being a new tale to tell.  But that's what I like about it, it doesn't leave you wondering about the lyrics.
Grey's Anatomy
  • "Good Time" by Brazilian Girls. Lunch with the dead. >/+ | Download
    • This was another great music use from the show and a fun song, if you're hangin' out among dead people.
The Hills
  • "I'm Not Over" by Carolina Liar. Heidi & Kim discuss inviting Spencer while walking through XIV. >/+ | Download
    • This is an awesome, rockin' song.  It also reminds me I really need to download more Carolina Liar.
  • "The Resolution" by Jack's Mannequin. Lauren & Whitney discuss Audrina moving out. >/+ | Download
    • I actually got to see them this summer as part of Paramore's tour and while I admit I wasn't impressed with them then, I kind of like this song now.  It's not a resounding endorsement, but it's something.
House
  • "Fire" by Daniel Lanois. Sam & her dad joke around; Cuddy says goodbye to Becca's baby. >/+ | Download | Watch
    • Now this is a great song.  His voice and guitar are great and the scene's it was used in were also pretty great.
Privileged
  • "Be OK" by Ingrid Michaelson. Sage meets with publicist Patricia Kingston. >/+ | Download
    • Another great catchy Ingrid Michaelson song.
  • "All We Are" by Matt Nathanson. Will sympathizes with Megan. >/+ | Download
    • This song has been used before in other shows, but in case you hadn't heard it yet, here's your chance.
  • "Jagananda Sleeps" by Mad Finder. Rose asks Charlie for advice. >/+ | Download
    • I like this song!  It's got a catchy beat and it's all light and breezy.  This is my jazz side coming out here.
Ugly Betty
  • "Merrymaking at My Place" by Calvin Harris. Amanda moves into Betty's apartment. >/+ | Download
    • This is seriously my new favorite song of the week.  Where was this track when I was moving into my new house last month?
  • "Get On With It" by Val Emmich. Dark Sexual Journey performs at the party. >/+ | Download | Featured Free Download
    • This is a cool band, acting as another band on the show.  Check out this song and download it free for a limited time as one of our featured downloads.
  • "Look" by Sebastien Tellier. Wilhemina & Betty share a beer. >/+ | Download
    • Another great track here.  Bound to be another one of my favorites.

Best Of The Week

Grey's Anatomy
  • "Torch Song" by Shady Bard. Hunt yells at Cristina & Alex; Izzie tells Mike to fight; Rose dies. >/+ | Download
    • This was a great use becuase it was one of those that blended so well into the background yet added so much to the scenes.  Not only was it the perfect fit for the show, but it's also a pretty wonderful song.
