Top5 - My Favs For May 2008
I discovered some great new music this month. A lot you may have already heard, but many are new to me. So what are the tracks?
- "When You Were Young" by The Killers (>/+). Alright, so on my vacation, my brother and I stayed at a friend's house and got to play some Guitar Hero for the first time. Let me say, that game is freakin' sweet. If you haven't played it yet, you probably wouldn't know that you can play this song on it, and we did, several times. Also, I think that this is the ONLY Killers song that I love, or actually like for that matter. Generally, I'm a Killer hater. I can't stand his voice, sorry. But this song has now had 6 plays since May 19th.
- "Ruby" by Kaiser Chiefs (>/+). Let's continue in the Guitar Hero trend and include another song that I rediscovered while playing the game. Such a cool beat and catchy chorus. Another song with 6 plays since May 19th.
- "Hollywood's Not America" by Ferras (>/+). I love this song! Such great lyrics, and I would safely say that they are some of the best I've heard in quite some time. As a side note, I bet we hear this on The Real World: Hollywood in the next month. Any takers? (That is, unless they already did and I missed it...) 7 plays since May 3rd.
- "California Soul" by Marlena Shaw (>/+). Now, I'm not the one to usually seek out songs from commercials, but I had heard this one a few times on a Dockers ad and had to find out what it was. Cool song and great groove. 6 plays since May 12th.
- "Should've Said No" by Taylor Swift (>/+). I'm not sure exactly how I fell in love with this song, but I believe it had to do with her performance on the 43rd Annual Academy of Country Music Awards. I'm not usually a big country fan, and many would probably not consider this true country anyways, but I'm becoming a big fan of this young girl. This performance in particular is one of the best ever, perhaps not vocally, but in every other way. 5 plays since May 21st.
There were plenty of other great tracks too, but it was a difficult choice this month. We'll save the other ones for a month that's a little less exciting.
