Top5 - My Favs For April

This month there's not too much in the way of unique music.  But there are a few gems that I personally have only recently discovered.

Play All

  1. "Killa" by Cherish feat. Yung Joc (>/+).  I believe this one's been used for the Gossip Girl promos for a month or two.  I really liked it then and I liked it even more after it aired on The Hills a few weeks ago.  It's now up to 8 plays on Windows Media Player since April 8th.
  2. "Collie Man" by Slightly Stoopid (>/+).  This song is now one of my favorites since it aired on Scrubs last week.  I haven't had the chance to listen to many other Slightly Stoopid tracks other than this and "Sweet Honey" (>/+), so I've got some listening homework ahead of myself.  Anyone else fans?  Already up to 7 plays since April 27th.
  3. "Steady As She Goes" by The Raconteurs (>/+).  This song rocks!  I've heard it a few times before as background music, but I finally heard it on YouTube the other day and had to finally download it.  I love the lyrics and the way they sing them.  5 plays since April 29th.
  4. "All Summer Long" by Kid Rock.  I seem to recall this song being used as a KFC commercial.  Am I right?  I don't think they ever played the lyrics, but when I finally heard this on the radio a few weeks ago, I fell in love.  "Sweet Home Alabama" is a freaking awesome song and always has been.  This so-called remake, or should I say rework, is great.  And, having grown up in northern Michigan, I love the line "it was summertime in northern Michigan".  As, I think, does everyone else here considering it's already been getting great play on WIOG. 2 plays since I finally downloaded it today.
  5. "Boys" by Ashlee Simpson.  Okay, I admit it.  I've liked a lot of Ashlee Simpson songs over the years.  Not all of them though.  I heard this one, as did millions of other people, "live" (defined as moving your lips in sync with a vocal track according to Ashlee) on Dancing With The Stars.  Although, I've got to admit, she did sound good that night.  I like the retro beat and the sound of her voice.  Unfortunately, I don't care for any of the other songs on her new CD.  Good try Ashlee and better luck if there's a next time.  Aww, who am I kidding?  Of course there will be a next time, she's a mid-celeb with an okay voice and a famous sister.  4 plays since April 22nd.

Oh, and a bonus performance of my current number one over three months or so...
