CiO - Flyleaf
I'm willing to bet that I was among many others when I first heard Flyleaf on MTV this past Christmas. Now normally, I'm not a big fan of hard rock with all the screaming and anger. I don't usually consider screaming to be music or singing for that matter. But there's something about Flyleaf that's different. Not only are their tracks thoughtful and meaningful, I'm not finding myself covering my ears when Lacey, the lead singer, does scream. Lacey also has a background story of a rough childhood which makes the lyrics all the more touching. I suggest watching this interview first before listening to the tracks for a bigger impact.
The entire band is pretty open about the fact that faith flows into their music and yet they don't make it bluntly obvious in the lyrics. I like that and wish more Christian bands would do the same. Now I admit, I don't like all of their tracks, there are many that are just too far beyond my musical taste to have any redeeming quality, but that's just the way I roll with most artists anyway.
Alright, if you're one of the couple hundred people that didn't see them on MTV a few weeks ago, take a gander at some of my favorite videos and let me know what you think of them.
