Most definitely rain. I am a huge advocate against snow. I don't like it. I think it should be banned. Okay maybe it is pretty sometimes when you are at home with your family on christmas or something, but when you are out on the road driving all over the country, snow can make for hard travels. And it is cold. On the other hand I really enjoy sitting at home reading a book with the rain coming down outside. I think that question did not merit such a long answer, but there you go.
2. Off the top of your head, name a song that you've been listening to the most recently.
I have been doing a bunch of shuffle action on my iPod lately, but I would say lately I find myself putting on "Xanax" by Maria Taylor. It is a beautiful song.
3. Do you ever watch television? If so, what's your favorite show & why?
Being on the road so much I have recently discovered the beauty of TV shows on DVD. So lately I've been watching a lot of TV and it has kind of become an addiction. My favorite TV show as of late is The Office. It is nice to get lost in some good comedy.
4. Were you excited to learn your music would be aired on Grey's Anatomy & Jericho?
Yes, very excited. I remember we were somewhere in Virginia and we had just played an awful show and I wasn't in the best of moods and then I got a call saying we would be on Grey's Anatomy and everything completely turned around that night. And then I learned our music would be on Alias and Jericho and it was a great feeling to know that these people were actually listening to our songs and considering them for their programs.
5. What impact has it had?
It is kind of hard to tell. I think being on Grey's Anatomy had the biggest impact. Obviously because it is a big show, but also because people who watch that show really seem to investigate what songs were on their favorite show. So we did get a pretty good response after that one. It is just great because normally we have this certain demographic of people who listen to us, but anyone and everyone of all different types watch Grey's. So that helped to broaden our listening
audience and that is always a great thing.
6. When people listen to your music, how do want them to react to it?
I think basically I just want them to react period. I want them to notice it. I want them to feel something. I would prefer that the songs could make people react in a positive way, but I just want the songs to somehow take hold of the listener. I want the songs to engage the listener. From there it is up to them how they interpret and feel them.
7. Have you always known that you'd want to create music?
I think I have. Even when I was a little kid I had a little speaker with a microphone hooked up to it that my mom got at radio shack so I could sing along with my favorite songs. And yeah as I grew older I have always enjoyed the creative process.
8. Have any funny stories about performing or touring on the road?
I probably shouldn't incriminate myself, but last year on my birthday we played a show and people kept feeding me drinks before we played. And I usually don't drink until after we play so as to keep things professional. But that night things got a little out of hand and I played the first few songs with a pick in my guitar strings. So there wasn't any guitar for those songs, just some gross plucking sounds. Needless to say, I learned my lesson.
9. You're stuck on the proverbial island and of course there's only one CD with you. Which one would it be?
I would have to say a greatest hits CD by the Beach Boys. Their songs are timeless and it would be the perfect beach music to have around to keep the mood light.
10. What are your hopes for the coming year?
We plan to tour constantly this year in support of our new record "Illuminare" in hopes to gain as many new fans as possible. These days the market is just flooded with bands and we are trying to rise above and make our presence known. A few more TV spots wouldn't hurt either.
