BotW - "Down Under" by Colin Hay
Really, so many great musical moments this week. In my humble opinion, this was the best week thus far this season and there were many tracks that could have been chosen for the honor. Let's start with Chuck. Nearly every song was great. The scene where Chuck states Sarah couldn't handle Arcade Fire's "Funeral" album and instead plays The Editors "Weight of the World" (>/+) made for a great moment. Even better than that was the hilarious use of Finley Quaye's "Dice" (>/+) as Chuck rushes home to be the second half of the sandworm costume. The final track on Chuck was Rob Base and DJ EZ Rock's "It Takes Two" (>/+) making the dancing sandworm scene a perfect song use. But not perfect enough as we'll see in a few minutes.
Private Practice brought us some Matt Nathanson with "All We Are" (>/+) during the final minutes of the show, as well as Van Hunt's "Turn My TV On" (>/+) at the beginning. Reaper gave us the great song "Scissors For Lefty" (>/+) by Next To Argyle as the devil plays mini-pumpkin golf. Grey's Anatomy played Kate Nash's "Merry Happy" at the end of the episode, which also ended up being one of my personal favorites this week. Lastly, Scrubs brought us a great use of "Heartbeats" (>/+) by Jose Gonzalez at the end of the episode as J.D. and Kim temporarily make up.
Ah yes. But the song everyone wants to know is this... What better way to have a cameo than to come out of a woman's you-who (proper term from the mother's mouth actually). Colin Hay came out and played a stripped version of "Down Under" (>/+). Which by the way I never knew he was actually in Men at Work until just this week. Sad. Very sad. I tried to find a YouTube video for the scene, but no such luck yet. If I find one, I'll try to post it. It was hilarious. Here you go:
