BotW - "Santa Maria (del Buen Ayre)" by Gotan Project

I've realized this week that while these new shows are pretty good at using music, nothing has been really spectacular thus far.  There have been a few tracks that are pretty cool, but I feel more like I'm having a limited selection to choose from.  Perhaps I just have expectations that are too high.  Anyway, there were a couple of decent songs this week as I look back on it.

One of those decent songs was, yes, The Bravery again with "The Ocean" (>/+).  I liked the use of the song in Grey's Anatomy this week with the build up to Izzie's discovery of a dead Charlie.  Even though the scene had the whole cliché "I'll just walk into the doorway and start talking without looking at your face" thing going for it.  If it weren't for that, perhaps it might have won.  On the other hand, I think my prediction last week that The Bravery is this season's Snow Patrol may turn out to be true.  Two down, who knows how many to go.

Now one down, with only the winner to go.  And that my friends goes to Chuck.  When it comes to finding a song to use for a tango scene, there's not a whole lot to pick from that would match the modern feel.  Gotan Project's "Santa Maria (del Buen Ayre)" (>/+) is a good match for the show and scene.  It's the kind of track I would have chosen.  Congrats Mr. Schwartz on your first (of probably many) "Best of" awards this year!

Oh, almost forgot.  Who else is in love with the Chuck theme song?  Awesome! ("Short Skirt / Long Jacket" by Cake)
