BotW - "Mas Que Nada" by Sergio Mendes
While there weren't any great uses of music this week, there were plenty of great tracks to discover. Chuck featured music from Rouge Wave called "Lake Michigan" (>/+) at the "Mother's Day" celebration. Chuck also used Hall and Oates "Private Eyes" (>/+) nicely. It reminded me of Veronica Mars. I think that actually just makes me sadder. I also liked Mika's "Happy Ending" (>/+) on Gossip Girl towards the end when Nate gets blamed for the drugs and everyone makes amends. Another cool song was from The Bird and The Bee called "Polite Dance Song" (>/+). It was used on Grey's Anatomy when everyone's having lunch. It makes me happy to hear some more upbeat music once again on Grey's. Like I said last week, it's been a long time coming. And then no week would be complete without some spooning, er, Spoon. "The Underdog" (>/+) by Spoon was played during Reaper when Sam promises to do karaoke with Andi. All in all this week had some good songs with not so great uses, but fun no less to discover the new music.
What wasn't so much fun was all the old stuff played on Cane. Anybody watching that one? What was with the constant Santana throughout? There were also a couple of other tracks, but mainly just Santana, over and over again. It wasn't even a variety of tracks, which he has, just two or three of the same. I get that they are Cuban, but is that the only music they listen to? The show could showcase some great new music if they could only look for it.
Now that that rant is over, this week's best music use goes to Private Practice for the second time this season. I really liked that they used Sergio Mendes' "Mas Que Nada" (>/+) during Addison's elevator fantasy scene. Perfect. Great song too. Speaking of which, I accidentally added the Black Eyed Peas version of the song to the music list (but have since changed it) and I really like that remix. Check it out too (>/+).
