Hall of Fame - "I Shall Believe" by Sheryl Crow
This week, and perhaps future weeks when there are no new episodes worthy of the “Best Of” award, I will be doing a sort of “Hall of Fame” or favorites discussion.
One track stands out in my mind right away. That is, Sheryl Crow’s “I Shall Believe.” As far as I know, it has been featured on Alias, Everwood, One Tree Hill and Roswell. While I can’t remember every scene exactly that has used this song, it has worked very well on Alias, Everwood and most well used on Roswell. Roswell, by the way was also music supervised by Alexandra Patsavas, the genius behind Grey’s Anatomy. On Roswell, the final scene of “The End of the World” where Liz and Max have their wedding dance is set to this track. By the end of the dance, Max has disappeared and left Liz all by herself. Check out the last 7 minutes of the episode here (4:20 in) on YouTube.com.
Compare that scene to the one on One Tree Hill, found here (5:00 in). I cannot speak too much about it myself, do to the fact that I don’t really know what’s going on at the end, but any One Tree Hill fans care to elaborate? Otherwise it just seems like another montage to another show. Which in my opinion is not a great use of a song.
Unfortunately, I could not find the clips from Everwood or Alias, even though I seem to recall Everwood’s use being really good. Let me know what you think about the song and the scenes it has been used in.
PS. I did really enjoy the last track on Lost this week when they are driving the VW. Great one! For those wondering what it was… “Shambala” by Three Dog Night. Check out the whole VW stuff in a shortened form.
