BotW - "Western Meadowlark" by Brown Recluse Sings
This weeks winner is the excellent song “Western Meadowlark” by Brown Recluse Sings, played during the opening scene of Veronica Mars. This song is the award winner this week because of how perfect the sound of the song fit the scene and how the lyrics fit perfectly as well. I loved the moment when the song said “like a beautiful summer” and the scene showed a very strange winter in Neptune, California.
In other highlights of the week, I really liked “The Sad Song” by Fredo Viola at the end of the OC. It was such a strong “character” in that scene and the whole earthquake felt surreal. And, of course I’ve got to mention the Snow Patrol song “Make This Go On Forever” used at the end of Grey’s Anatomy. It’s been awhile since we’ve heard them on the show and this song just proves how Snow Patrol seems to be written just for Grey’s Anatomy. This would be my second place song, but close choice this week. Actually, the more I think about this song, it reminds me of the end of Veronica Mars’ “Normal Is The Watchword” where Embrace’s “Ashes” played. The song and the falling/water themes are strangely similar in my opinion.
Finally, I am really loving the song “Roadside” by Rise Against which aired on Smallville. Unfortunately though I did not actually see the episode.
